Caister next Yarmouth

About our Parish

Caister on Sea is a settlement dating back to Roman times, taking its name from the Roman Saxon Shore Fort a few hundred yards west of the church. In the 19th century Caister expanded as a fishing community and became famous for its lifeboats. Modern Caister has grown enormously becoming a suburb of Great yarmouth and a popular retirement location for many people from the home counties.
The parish church dates back to the late 13th century but has been much altered over the years. It stands at the present heart of the village which serves. For the past century it has followed a high church tradition with its life focussed on the sacraments.
