About our Parish

Area of parish – 2009 acres. 256 dwellings. 3 working farms but very few people employed in farming now. Present population becoming increasingly professional (i.e. doctors, academics, solicitors, or business people etc.). Most housing owner occupied, plus a few remaining council houses and 6 Housing Association properties, designated for local people. House prices are high.
Village is 7 miles from Oxford with railway station on Bicester-Oxford line. Limited local bus service between Oxford and other villages in the benefice. 3 miles from Kidlington with its supermarkets and sports centre.
2 pubs – community shop (run by volunteers) is open in refurbished village hall. The village hall club runs a programme of entertainment. There is a playing field; a children’s playground; a playgroup which uses Portakabins within the school grounds; a football team and a strong cricket team; and a weekly mobile library. Village has a doctors’ surgery serving the surrounding area. No other centres of worship, apart from St Nicholas Church.
