St Georges, Oakdale

About our Parish

St George's is at the heart of the Oakdale Parish, a suburb of Poole. St George's history is one of extensive growth, both of the church and it's local area. The large housing estate of Canford Heath and it's neighbour; Creekmoor were just heathland when the St George's was built in 1959. With an expanding area and population, the smaller churchs of Christ Church, Creekmoor and St Paul's, Canford Heath have only existed for the past 20 or so years. The three churches are now part of the North Poole Ecumenical Team and are distinct with their approach to faith. St Georges is architcturally unique and is Grade 2* listed by English Heritage. We have an active choir which sings at Sunday services and also undertakes events outside the Parish on a number of occasions each year. St Georges also has a youth group - The Way In - the group has strong leadership from the young adults who are actively involved in planning and running the group. We are also pleased to offer OFSTED approved child care.
