About our Parish

Wressle is a rural community on the western edge of the East Riding & includes the hamlets of Brind & Newsholme. There is railway station, on the Hull to Selby line, & a Village Hall. The church is on the very western edge of the parish by the River Derwent.

We are part of the Howden Team Minstry, covering southern Howdenshire as far east as Newport; the northern littoral of the lower Ouse from the confluence with the Derwent on the western side up to its confluence with the Trent to form the Humber to the east.

Borthwick Institute of the University of York

Howden Civic Society initiated a project with the East Yorkshire Family History Society to record all the Monumental Inscriptions and these are available in a 2 volume publication which comes complete with map. All of the inscriptions have been cross checked against parish records wherever possible. The publication is priced at £5 and is available from Howden Civic Society.
