The Flower and Bygone Weddings Festival

Each year we have a flower festival at Christ Church, usually towards the end of the Summer to coincide with Harvest Festival. This year (2011) the Flower Festival included the display Bygone Weddings reflecting all those who had been married in Christ Church over the years. Residents and ex-residents loaned dresses, photographs, invitation cards, newspaper reports, all manner of memorabilia to make a spectacular display. A willing team of ladies were on hand to supply visitors with teas and refreshments and hope to get people to part with their money for the grand raffle prizes. Proceeds from the weekend amounted to £900 to which the parish council donated a further £100 making a grand total of £1000 for church funds.

The display would not have been possible without the enthusiasm of our church warden Sue Rawle and her team.
