The old Parish Church of Christ the King fell surplus to requirements as the population moved out of town in the 1950s and 60s. As County Hall nearby were short of space, a new extension was planned which took in the facade of the old Church. This now incorporates a Chapel which is used for weekly Mass and many other occasional services as well as the Chairman of the Countys suite on the upper floor. It is a functional space, with furniture carved by the Countys own craftsmen in the fashion of the time and it is a great blessing that this large complex has at its heart a chapel and regular services held
