We are a Local Ecumenical Partnership  (LEP) between the Church of England and the Methodist Church.  St Matthew's is one church family, worshipping and working together to the glory of God and his Son, Jesus Christ. We share one bread and wine in the Eucharist. We look to the working of the Holy Spirit amongst us in building up the kingdom of God. Our pattern of worship draws from the traditions of both our parent church bodies. Through Baptism new church members are recognised by both the Church of England and the Methodist Church. Confirmation is similarly recognised by both parent churches.

If you wish to contact us about a Baptism, Wedding or Funeral, please use the link on the right side of this page.

We look to our sponsoring body, West Yorkshire Churches Together, for guidance. Our church is administered at the local level by our Ecumenical Church Council, which meets monthly during the first week of the month.

We also work closely with the Rastrick Group of Churches and Churches Together in Brighouse.

We have regular house groups and nurture groups as advertised, as well as seasonal ones for Lent.

Annually, we mark Battle of Britain Sunday and Remembrance Sunday which the local RAF Association attend.

For many years we have supported the work of Testimony Faith Homes in Eldoret Kenya, which is now led by Daryl and Carol Green. Daryl's father and mother, John and Esther  spoke movingly about their life and work supporting outcast children in Eldoret on Sunday 29th May 2011 at St Matthew's Church. See the photo gallery and News.

Our Parish is linked with the Parish of Nyakiswa, in the Diocese of Mara in Tanzania. Information about the West Yorkshire and the Dales / Mara link can be found on the West Yorkshire and the Dales Diocese Mara Link page

We support CMS, the Church Mission Society through our new Link Member, Miriam Knowles, who is living  in Tanzania with the local church. She is working as an Occupational Therapist, primarily with disabled children. Miriam's base is Neema Crafts, in the town of Iringa, but she will be developing the work to reach out to local village communities. Her vision is education and helping to dispel the stigma and closedness that surrounds disability. Follow Miram on her blog  and read her newsletter (see News).

The parish has an abundance of old persons' homes and schools which are visited regularly. Many of the schools visit the church for teaching sessions and for special events, such as carol services and thanks giving.

A Parent and Toddler Group meet every Thursday 9.30 - 11am in the Parish Centre.

The men of the church meet with the men of St John's church in a local pub  for "Beer and Banter". See our website http://www.stmatthewsrastrick.org for details.

The ladies socialise on the fourth or fifth Tuesday each month and usually have a speaker. The meeting  takes place in the Parish Centre.

A holiday club for the 2 to 14 age group is usually held at Easter.

Rainbows, Brownies and Guides meet on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings in the Parish Centre - See our website http://www.stmatthewsrastrick.org for details.

Beavers, Cubs and Scouts meet on Monday and Friday evenings in the Parish Centre - See our website http://www.stmatthewsrastrick.org for details.

An annual pantomime is produced by St Matthew's Theatrical Society as well as other productions from time to time. See our website http://www.stmatthewsrastrick.org for details.

Rooms in the Parish Centre are available for hire - please contact Tony Wrightson by phone on 01484 548610
