Ryton on Dunsmore - St. Leonard

A warm welcome awaits you at St Leonard's church.

We are a lively and friendly congregation, with a good mix of ages, from babies to 90- year olds. Outgoing and at the heart of the village community. Our beautiful church was built in 1080, and the main entrance is through a fine early Norman doorway. Churchmanship is "upper central": reserved sacrament, vestments, mix of services including sung Eucharist, Book of Common Prayer Evensong, Family Services and very informal Village Worship. We were recently visited by a Mystery Worshipper, who rated our worship 9/10 "very good", and was impressed by our hospitality and friendliness. You can read the full report by following the "Mystery Worshipper" link in the sidebar on the left of this page.

We have Sunday School/ children's activities at all our 9.30 a.m. Sunday services.

On the second Wednesday of each month volunteers run a Lunch Club in the Church Centre. A 2- course meal with tea or coffee is served at 12 noon and costs £5. If you would like some company and a chat please ring Hazel Smith (024 76456711). Meals must be booked in advance. We provide free transport in the Village Minibus- just tell Hazel if you would like to take advantage of it. We look forward to seeing you.

We have eight bells in our medieval tower, and at present we ring twice a month for the 9.30 a.m. service, plus weddings and occasional other special events. Please ring our Tower Captain, Mr. John Hammond, on 02476 511130 for times of bellringing practice and other details. New volunteers, whether experienced ringers, absolute beginners or anywhere in between, are always very welcome.

Our robed choir of men, women and children sings at the sung Eucharist twice monthly, and we also have an augmented choir (not robed) which learns music for special events and concerts. If you love to sing, and would like to be part of either choir, please get in touch with Barbara Marsh on tel 02476 304295; email [email protected]. You don't have to be able to read music- just enjoy singing. We are all learning!

and Ryton-on-Dunsmore

Diocese of Coventry

As part of the Christian Church living in the spirit of the Gospel, we are committed to protect and care for everyone in the church community, but especially adults at risk and children.

We are committed to:

• • The care of, the nurture of, and respectful pastoral ministry with all children and adults.

• • The safeguarding and protection of all children and adults.

• • The establishing of a safe, caring community which provides a loving environment where victims of abuse can report or disclose abuse and where they can find support and best practice that contributes to the prevention of abuse.

To this end we will:

• • Carefully select, support and train all those with any responsibility within the church, in line with the Church of England’s Practice Guidance for Safer Recruitment.

• • Respond without delay to every complaint made that a child or adult may have been harmed, cooperating with the police and local authority in any investigation.

• • Seek to offer informed pastoral care and support to anyone who has suffered abuse, developing with them an appropriate ministry that recognises the importance of understanding the needs of those who have been abused, including their feelings of alienation and/or isolation.

• • Seek to protect survivors of abuse from the possibility of further harm and abuse.

• • Seek to challenge any abuse of power, especially by anyone in a position of respect and responsibility, where they are trusted by others.

• • Seek to offer pastoral care and support, including supervision, and referral to the appropriate authorities, to any member of our church community known to have offended against a child or adult.

In all of the above:

• • We will follow legislation, guidance and recognised good practice.

• • We will monitor and regularly review our safeguarding procedures.

Church and churchyard tidy-up and maintenance day

Occuring
Monthly. Every Third Saturday at for 2 hours
Venue
Ryton on Dunsmore - St. Leonard
Address
Church Road Ryton-on-Dunsmore Coventry, CV8 3ET, United Kingdom

On the morning of the third Saturday in every month, our enthusiastic Tidy-up team meets to share the task of keeping our church and churchyard looking beautiful. In 2007, we won the area Best-kept Churchyard competition, and we aim to maintain this high standard of care, with the help of our team of dedicated volunteers. We are also nurturing our newly-established Conservation Area. We work hard at grass-mowing, hedge-trimming, weeding, planting and many other jobs, and we always welcome new volunteers. Why not come along and lend a hand, and have a lot of fun and fellowship at the same time? Refreshment breaks are an important part of the morning! Contact Mark Jones 02476 302272 to volunteer or enquire.
