The delightful little church of St Agatha is in a village between Scotch Corner and Richmond. Whilst it is not as old as our other parish churches it is a little gem. It is much loved and cared for by its present congregation
.
There is a service each week using Common Worship ‘traditional language’. The Book of Common Prayer is used when matins is advertised, and for morning prayer. The small congregation enjoy their regular worship and are warm and inviting to newcomers. They particularly enjoy the big occasions – Harvest, Easter and Christmas when the church is delightfully festive with services to match!! The congregation are mainly older people but would love to start up a service for families!
St Agatha will shortly be licensed for Marriage Services (for the more ‘compact’ wedding – guests 50/60) and there is a marvellous old font for Baptisms! It is always well-heated in the colder months!
During 2011 we expect the facilities will be improved with the addition of a small kitchen and toilet
