The village of South Acre has almost disappeared. The Church of St George is one those unspoilt treasures. The church building owes much to the endeavours of the Harsyke family. There is a magnificent alabaster and marble monument to Sir Edward Barkham former Lord Mayor of London and his wife. In the north aisle lies the effigy of a Knight Templar.
