The Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Speen, is situated in a very beautiful part of the Berkshire countryside.
It is a medieval church built on Saxon Foundations, and was the mother church of Newbury. In 1086 it was recorded in the Domesday Book.
Since 1987, St. Mary's has had, as its next door-neighbour, an Anglican order of Benedictine Monks at Elmore Abbey.
