St Anselm's is medium-sized Church of England church community in Stanmore, North-West London. Our ethnic and social mix reflects the diversity of the local community as does our blend of youth and experience. Our Sunday services are at 8.00am and 10.30am and we have a midweek communion at 10.00am on Wednesdays. The early and mid-week services are gently formal communion services but the 10.30 is more contemporary in style.
On the 1st Sunday of each month our 10.30 service is fairly traditional – on the 2nd we have an All-Age service, the 3rd Sunday is led by the Gospel Choir and we have a contemporary band on the 4th Sunday. When there is a 5th Sunday in the month we have a Healing Service.
Children are very welcome in our church: we are fully committed to the Children's Charter. Our Junior Church meets on the 1st, 3rd & 4th Sunday of each month at the 10.30 a.m. service during term time - the 2nd Sunday is an All Age service. We also have a growing youth group that meets regularly and is, increasinly, becoming involved in leading our services.
We seek to deepen our relationship with God through prayer and praise and are beginning to see signs of growth and transformation both within the church community and in our relationships with our neighbours.
Our church community began in a tent in August 1935 but we now worship in a genuinely recycled building that has been reconstructed from the fabric of St Anselm's in Davies Street, W1: the stone pillars and huge west window of the church once stood in the heart of Mayfair!
