St Bertelin's church was built in the 1950s and dedicated in 1956 to serve the growing community in the north end of the county town of Stafford. It is part of the Anglican team ministry of Stafford. The other churches in the team are listed at the foot of this page, under "Our other churches".
Its patron saint is Bertelin, (sometimes spelled Bettelin or Bartholm) who was a holy man in Stafford sometime in the 7th/8th century, and who is reputed to have died at Ilam in Derbyshire and to be buried there. His tomb can be visited in Ilam church.
