We are a friendly and inclusive church, welcoming all ages and backgrounds to our worship. We serve the area of Farringdon, Lakeside (Gilley Law) and East and Middle Herrington, on the southwest edge of Sunderland. We believe that worship is for all ages, and so children of all ages are welcome and fully included in all services. We are here to serve the whole parish, of any faith or none, in any way we can.

Sung Eucharist of the Last Supper
In a mood of celebration, we give thanks for the Last Supper and for the institution of the Eucharist. The footwashing celebrates the way of Christ, our Servant-King. At the end of the Eucharist, the mood changes to solemnity. As Jesus went to Gethsemane, we process to the Lady Chapel, where the service continues into the Gethsemane Watch of prayer until midnight: stay as long as you want, or come back later for a time. The main church is unceremoniously stripped, and we are led forward into Good Friday. The sacrament reserved at the Watch will be received in the Good Friday Liturgy: the liturgies of these three days are one celebration of God's great action in Christ.

The Good Friday Liturgy
A solemn day, but Good Friday, and a celebration of the Victory of the Cross. The Passion is read dramatically: the Cross involves us all. In the simple action of venerating the cross, we come forward to say all that we cannot put into words today. The link with the Last Supper in the one great action of Christ is made as we receive communion from the bread and wine consecrated on Maundy Thursday.

he Easter Vigil and First Eucharist of Easter
On this, the greatest night of the year, in the dark church we hear the readings telling of God's great work throughout the ages. We go out to light the Paschal Candle from a bonfire (the New Fire), and return to fill the church with candle-light as we begin the Easter celebration: the darkness of the tomb giving way to the light and joy of Christ's new life. The Gloria of the first Eucharist of Easter brings an explosion of joyful noise: bring a bell, a whistle, anything to join in. At the font we renew our baptismal vows, knowing that we have died and are risen with Christ: we go on to share the first Communion of Easter.
