St James' is a Christian community which exists to worship and give glory to God. Our primary task is being with the people for the sake of God and with God for the sake of the people.
Our Church is a Grade II listed building. It is a plain aisled building of stock brick, in Commissioners' Gothic, with a western tower and battlemented exterior. Due to a fire in 1968, the inside is light, open and modern.
We believe that all people are the loved by God, therefore we should love and respect other people in all their diversity and be open to the insights they bring. Our congregation is a good mix of young and old as well as culturally diverse and inclusive.
It is our duty and joy to serve others, locally and in the wider world, and to strive for justice and peace. We seek to help people relate their lives to God, and to grow in private faith and public discipleship.
