St John the Baptist, St. Johns Chapel

St. John the Baptist is one of 5 churches in the Benefice of Upper Weardale. The Church, a listed building, was built in 1465 on the site of an earlier building.  Originally part of Stanhope parish, St John's Chapel became a separate parish in 1866.

Sunday services are held in St. John's Chapel on the first and third Sundays of every month, with the service taking place in neighbouring Cowshill on the second and fourth Sundays. In months with 5 Sundays a special service at various locations is held on the fifth Sunday. Choose Services and Events in the menu for times and locations of all services.

The service takes place at St. John's Chapel on the first and third Sundays of each month and at Cowshill on the second and fourth Sundays.
