The Chapel of St Mary & St Andrew, Knightwick
This small chapel was build in 1879 on the site of the old Saxon church. The old church having been pulled down on 1855 when a new church was built at the foot of Ankerdine Hill to serve the two parishes of Knightwick (St Mary) and Doddenham (St Andrew). Both the original churches were very dilapidated and as the two parishes had been run together since the 17thcentury and as a generous benefactor was willing to substantially fund the building of a new church, that was done. He also funded the building of this Chapel as a mortuary chapel, some twenty years later.
Since 2002, with a much reduced congregation, the chapel has been used for the services in Knightwick - the parishes being amalgamated with Broadwas & Cotheridge, (with St Mary Magdalene at Broadwas as the main parish church).
In 2010 the Chapel was refurbished with the bell turret being re-timbered and various things (the War Memorial, a Stain glass window & the old bells as well as some of the furniture) being moved from the redundant church by the Talbot, to make this little chapel a very special place to those who worship here, twice a month.
