St Nicholas-at-Wade church is the centre of its village community: in addition to regular services, it is used for a wide range of concerts, coffee mornings, charity events, school services, and more. The architecture and situation are both highly rated (it is listed in "England's 1000 Best Churches"), and there are interesting historical links too, particularly to the Poet Laureate Robert Bridges and his family, including a tomb and hatchings in the Bridges Chapel (also called the Lady Chapel, with an Image of Our Lady and the Christ Child, appropriate blue hangings and an exquisite Mothers' Union Banner). There is also a Flemish banner of St Nicholas with the Three Children and a Russian proper icon of our saint. The medieval church is home to a beautiful statue of St Nicholas of Myra and carved Christ the King at the baptismal font. The church is known for its flowers, and the summer Open Gardens held every second year is a much celebrated occasion. Fund-raising events also include the regular "Trash and Treasure" (around March) and "Charity Day" (around October).

The congregation offers traditional Anglican music and liturgy with the Holy Eucharist (Communion, Mass) as its central act of worship, all Sundays at 10.15 a.m., and Wednesday Eucharist at 10 a.m. Holy days are Epiphany, Ash Wednesday, Ascension Day, Corpus Christi, Lammas (1st Fruits), Assumption, St Nicholas Day. Children are welcome at any service.

The full rites of Holy Week are observed as the "Triduum" as best as we can manage. The Patronal Feast is St Nicholas Day 6 December which is celebrated by a "Nicolasfest" for all ages.

Our principal charity is The Children's Society. St Nicholas Church is home to the St Nicholas Society

We are part of the Wantsum Benefice with Richard Braddy, Vicar.  Each church has its own unique life and tradition, so much can be available to meet all traditions.
