St Paul’s – About our Church
St Paul’s Church is an inclusive neighbourhood church that
occupies a prominent site on the major transport artery in
north-east London.
If you are someone who wants to explore your faith and is not
easily satisfied by easy answers, this could well be a church for
you. We welcome all comers, regardless of race, age,
employment status or sexual orientation.
St Paul's Church is slightly set back from Stoke Newington Road
(the A10), with its own car park and a glade of mature trees.
Built in 1960 to replace a church bombed in the Second World
War, the building is nondescript from the outside but the
interior tingles with the spirit of the Festival of Britain. The
bright and well-appointed church hall sits at right angles to the
church; a folding wooden screen separates the two buildings,
and is usually retracted during our Sunday service to allow space
for young children and their parents to sprawl.
The heart of our church life is the 10:30am Parish Communion
on Sunday morning.
We follow Common Worship and use contemporary language.
We produce a service booklet every week in which is contained
the text of the service, together with the hymns, readings and
prayers for the day.
This service is normally attended by approximately 65-70 adults
and 10-15 young people. We run a crèche and Sunday Club for
our younger worshippers and are currently exploring the
possibility of employing a children’s worker to oversee this
provision.
On the first Sunday of every month, our main act of worship at
10:30am is a ‘Communion Service for Children of All Ages’.
Although this service is designed to appeal to all comers, it has a
particular leaning toward our younger worshippers.
We believe passionately that we are here to serve and minster to
all who live in our parish, especially the vulnerable and those on
the edges of society. To that end, we accommodate and support
a variety of projects that are committed to working alongside
the homeless, those involved in the sex trade, those with
addictions, the unemployed and the young.

Sunday
Parish Communion
This service is the focus of our life as a church community to which we welcome all comers. We offer a Sunday Club for 5-11 year olds and children younger than this are welcome to remain in the church with their parents or carers. Toys and activities are provided for them. On the first Sunday of every month, our Parish Communion service is geared towards younger worshippers, who stay in for and take part in the whole service. This service has proved very popular with parents, carers and children alike.
Sunday at 10:30 AM for 1 hour and 10 minutes.
