Baptisms, Weddings, Banns

Baptism

Over the next few months whilst we wait for the appointment of a new vicar for St John’s we will do our best to accommodate baptisms during our 10am service (Please note we do not have baptisms during the penitential seasons of Lent and Advent). We will be reliant on visiting priests each week so we will aim to meet the preferred date but we do ask you to be flexible. If you would like to talk about a date please fill in the contact form and one of the Churchwardens will respond to you.

Weddings

Following the retirement of our vicar we do not currently have someone available to carry out a marriage service. However if you want to contact us we will see if we can find someone to support you through this process. Please remember that to be married at St John’s you will need to either:

1. Reside within the parish boundary

2. Be on the Electoral Roll of St John's

3. Be able to demonstrate a connection with St John's according to the Marriage Act (For example, you may have been baptised at St John's, or have lived in the parish at some point in the past). For full details see the Church of England guidance.

We do not have weddings during the penitential seasons of Lent and Advent.

Banns

You need to have your banns called at St John's if you are getting married at another church but live within the parish boundary of St John's Caterham. Please contact the Churchwardens.
