Sunderland Minster was reconstituted on 1st May 2007 to serve the City of Sunderland and not a parish. This is the first time a parish church has made this move.

We have an active weekly diet of services as well as Ministers attached to us who extend Chaplaincy services into:
Sunderland University
Industry (eg Nissan, Grundfoss)
Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service
Sunderland AFC
Sunderland Empire

We are the Civic Church for the City and host regular civic events and commemorations.

The building has some wonderful stained glass.

Alternative worship
an alternative to choral evensong which may include worship in the Taize style or a Common Worship evening prayer.
Every second and fourth Sunday at 6:00 PM for 1 hour
