Sunday school for children present at our services is based on Scripture Union stories and games, as appropriate for the children's ages.
Coffee is served after the services, which encourages people to stay and catch up on parish news, or introduce themselves, if they are new. The church is also open on Saturday and Tuesday mornings for conversation with coffee!
If you would like to use St Cuthbert's Church or church hall for an event, please contact the clergy. See Contact Us.
Ian Smith our organist has retired, so we are looking for an organist and choir master. Do get in touch if you would like to come and see the organ and meet some of the choir.
BENEFICE OF THETFORD THETFORD TEAM MINISTRY
Appointment of Team Rector
A unique opportunity to further God’s work in a splendid location.
Thetford, the ancient capital of East Anglia and now the fourth largest town in Norfolk, set among thousands of acres of heath land and pine forest with the driest climate in the UK.
The challenge of a town facing continual growth and, with its satellite churches and accompanying villages, offering forms of worship across the range and opportunities and challenges to match.
The church buildings in our benefice are places where God is worshipped and the gospel of Jesus Christ is celebrated and proclaimed.
Our churches are the people who, nurtured by word and sacrament, are deepened in fellowship in the pilgrimage of faith and draw others to the love of God and further His Kingdom through service.
The Team Rector
The Benefice is looking for a dynamic Team Rector who will lead the team in spreading the Gospel in and around Thetford.
We would welcome Bible-based candidates who:
- Will develop the leadership skills of others
- Are able to identify and develop church members’ gifts and skills
- Are able to help the church reach out to, attract and empower a younger generation
- Are willing to embrace a variety of different worship styles across the benefice.
The Team Rector should also take a leadership role in the redevelopment of St Cuthbert’s and the financial resourcing needed to complete this project
Presenting Patrons are
The Bishop of Norwich (Rt. Revd. Graham James), The Archdeacon of Norfolk (and Area Archdeacon), The Church Pastoral Aid Society’s Board of Patronage Trust, The Church Patronage Trust, The Governors of Sutton’s Hospital
