St. Mary's is a magnificent fifteenth century building often called 'The Cathedral of North Yorkshire'
Over 20,000 visitors per year visit the church which volunteer Welcomers keep open daily 10.00a.m.-4.00p.m. from Easter to the end of October. It is also open in winter on Wednesday mornings from 10.00a.m.-11.30a.m. and on Friday mornings from 9.30a.m.-12.00p.m.There is a wheelchair available for use in church.
The Crypt is open from Easter to the end of October for home-made refreshments and soup lunches every Monday from 10.00a.m.
