St. Mary's is a magnificent fifteenth century building often called 'The Cathedral of North Yorkshire'

Over 20,000 visitors per year visit the church which volunteer Welcomers keep open daily 10.00a.m.-4.00p.m. from Easter to the end of October. It is also open in winter on Wednesday mornings from 10.00a.m.-11.30a.m. and on Friday mornings from 9.30a.m.-12.00p.m.There is a wheelchair available for use in church.

The Crypt is open from Easter to the end of October for home-made refreshments and soup lunches every Monday from 10.00a.m.

Service using Book of Common Pprayer
this is an early Sunday morning Eucharist service using the book of common prayer . It is a said service.
Every Sunday at 8:00 AM for ¾ hour

Family Friendly Sunday School Coffee
Sunday service without communion
This service is intended for all ages and is planned by the Rector and a group of young mothers
This service which usually takes place during term time is varied according to need. every second Sunday at 10:15 AM for ¾ hour

This short service using the alternative service book starts at 6.30p.m. in summer and at 3.00p.m. in winter
Every Sunday at 6:30 PM for ½ hour

Thursday, Holy Communion
This weekday Holy Communion Service appeals to those who cannot get to the Sunday Service.
Every Thursday at 10:00 AM for 35 minutes
Reflective Service
Usually held on the third Thursday at 19-30. Silence for prayer : music to aid reflection and meditation.
Every third Thursday at 7:30 PM for 40 minutes
