St Mary Magdalen Church in Thorrington is a friendly village church just outside of Thorrington off the Clacton Road. The parish covers the village of Frating as well as Thorrington. Because of urgent repairs rendering the church building dangerous to use, our worship is currently being held at Thorrington Village Hall.
The church services are at 9.30am on Sundays and are traditional but with modern language and a mixture of old and newer hymns. There is a Family service on the 1st Sunday and activity boxes for children during the other services.
During the week there is a home group which meets on a Monday afternoon and another one on Wednesday evenings. On alternate Thursday afternoons there is a group for carers and under 5s, Little Fishes, at 1.45pm in Thorrington Village Hall. We are part of a benefice with the neighbouring parish of St Andrew's Alresford. Some activities such as Alpha courses and children & youth work take place mainly in Alresford. Details of dates for Little Fishes and other services & events can be found on our web-site www.thorringtonchurch.net
