Our house group -

‘EXCUSE ME, I DON’T AGREE WITH THAT!’ How many times have you heard something in a sermon, or on the radio, or read in the newspaper and thought, "I don’t understand that", or "I don’t agree with that", or "I wish I could discuss this with others"? Several years ago, a number of Christ Church members felt that they needed to set up a house group to meet informally to do just that: to learn more about God, to question and to share our life’s experiences. We wanted to read the Bible together, to understand what it meant when it was written, what it means now and how we can live the life God intends. We call our house group ‘Walking with God’. Our objectives are: • to learn and advance and be led by the Holy Spirit • to learn together and allow mistakes: we are not experts! • to be full of encouragement, care, openness and trust with each other • to worship and pray together • to have meeting which are fun and full of variety • to be friends and get to know each other better This autumn, we will try something different. We will base our meetings around the sermons delivered at our main service on Sunday morning. This will give us the opportunity to prepare, by reading at home the Bible passages from each Sunday, and to come together every couple of weeks to discuss the issues raised in the readings and preaching. For those among us who plead a "leaky memory" there is no hiding place - we will play a tape recording of the sermon! We are hoping for lively debate! We hope that new members will join ‘Walking with God’ this autumn. We are friends who get together with a common purpose, not a private club, and all members of Christ Church are welcome to join, either occasionally or on a regular basis.
