St Andrew's is THE inclusive and welcoming Church of England and The Methodist Church for the Carters Green, Claypit Lane and Tantany area. Accept NO imitations.
As a Church of England and Methodist Ecumenical Partnership we share worship together. We don't have Church of England services at one time and Methodist ones at another. That would be far too simple. Methodist and Church of England members worship side by side. Many are members of both churches.
If you walk through our doors on Sunday morning you could find either of our ministers leading worship (unless they're skiving somewhere else that is : ). Although the Revd Mike Claridge is paid by the Church of England and the Revd Phil Thomas by the Methodist Church they like to think they are interchangable. All we can say is, You decide!
We don't take ourselves too seriously at St Andrew's. There's usually laughter in the service and sometimes it's intentional. The Gospel is full of joy and laughter. Come and explore it with us.
Neither are we flippant about our faith. There are times when we have to be a little more reflective and if you're passing through a rough time we're here for you as well.
Our ministers don't deal in certainty. Faith is about questioning. Strong faith is about having courage to doubt. We believe that the opposite of faith isn't doubt. Instead the opposite of faith is certainty.
Come and explore the paths of your doubts with us.
Come and have your certainties challenged.
Although our worship is early on a Sunday morning - when the sparrows are still coughing - you won't find it too much of a rude awakening. Worship is dignified but friendly and traditional but informal. So you won't be too shaken by the experience. If you want your worship to be "swinging from the chandeliers" we may not be your sort of place. Then again we don't rely on amplifiers, computers and music groups - so we keep worshipping even when there's a power cut.
Towards the end of our 9.30 am Sunday Service, around 10.30, you may feel we've been invaded! That's when the Sunday School come down to join us. Children are always welcome at the Sunday School which starts at 9.30 am.
We hope to see you soon
