Mothers' Union
M.U. has prospered in St Mary's for over 100 years.
We have around 50 members, we usually have between 25 and 30 at our meetings.
Our ages range from mid thirties to eighty plus.
Some of our members are involved in Sunday school, the creche and welcoming baptism parents and families. We make toast on a daily basis for St Mary's school children and one or two of us listen to the children reading.
Several of us are involved in flower arranging in St Mary's. Some members knit squares to make up blankets for the third world, and tiny hats and clothes for premature babies. We also collect toileteries e.g. toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, facecloths etc and socks for the homeless (all donations gratefully accepted).
What sort of meetings do we have?
We have quizzes, various speakers, bring and buys and sometimes we just sit and chat over a cup of tea.
We have a noticeboard at the back of church which usually has a list of our meetings, we also have a reminder on our weekly church bulletin.
Our meetings are held on the last Tuesday of the month at 7.30pm until 9pm in St Mary's Millennium Centre.
Why not come and join us one evening? You would be made very welcome.
