Whether you're a visitor to West Wittering or a new or established resident, you're most welcome to come and worship with the Church Family here at West Wittering.  We'd love to see you.

The church is in Pound Road, West Wittering, PO20 8AJ.  Next to the church is the Rectory, attached to which on the left is the Parish Office. Together with our two sister churches in the parish of Birdham with Itchenor, we form a benefice in the Rural Deanery of Chichester, in the Diocese of Chichester.

A little further down the road from the church is our Church Room which we use for meetings and social events.  We have coffee/squash and biscuits here after the Sung Eucharist on Sundays.  Eveyone is very welcome and it's a great place to meet new friends and catch up with existing ones!

Maundy Thursday Liturgy
The service begins joyfully as we celebrate the Institution of the Eucharist - during the singing of the Gloria the church bells are rung. Later in the Eucharist comes the Washing of Feet which reminds us of Our Lord's example of humble, loving service when he washed the disciples' feet. The Eucharist ends with the stripping of the altar and sanctuary. Then follows the Watch - a vigil of private prayer that lasts until 10pm.
Thursday 5th April 2012 at 7:00 PM for 1 hour
Devotional Service and Good Friday Liturgy
From 1pm to 2pm there is a devotional service which is followed at 2pm by the Good Friday Liturgy. This lasts until 3pm. It comprises the Ministry of the Word, the Proclamation of the Cross, the Solemn Intercessions and the giving of Communion. (The Sacrament is reserved on the Altar of Repose following the Maundy Thursday Eucharist).
Friday 6th April 2012 at 1:00 PM for 2 hours
Service of Light
This is a wonderfully joyful start to our celebration of Easter! The lights of the church are switched off and the congregation, all with small unlit candles, gather outside the porch where a new fire is kindled. The Paschal Candle, symbolising Christ, the Light of the World, is prepared and lit and the light is carried through the church and progressively passed to the whole congregation. The Exsultet, that great Easter song of praise, is sung and then, during the singing of the Gloria, all the lights of the church are switched on and every candle is lit and the great round stone in the Easter Garden is rolled away revealing the empty grave clothes. We renew our Baptismal Vows and end with joyful prayers.
