A place where spirituality is celebrated for every parishioner and visitor.
The church is usually open during the day, for quiet and reflection, and for historical interest.
An impressive feature of the church is a well preserved head of a Saxon preaching cross, complete with ornate knot-work design. This was only uncovered by chance in the churchyard in the 20th century. It is housed neatly in what looks like a custom made niche inside the church, but the fit is coincidental.
Revd Robin Stapleford became Rector of the Upper Wensum group in the summer of 2008. The churchmanship style in the benefice at large is central, with early morning said Prayer Book (trad) Communion, and mid-morning Common Worship Communion, sometimes Family Service, and usually no evening services. Hymns are usually selected from 'Hymns Old and New'.
An informal Morning Prayer is said each Friday at 9.30 am, rotating around the benefice as advertised, and at St Mary Colkirk every Saturday at 9 am, also providing opportunity to speak to the Rector without appointment. A 'Julian' (of Norwich) - silent, contemplative - prayer meeting is held at Colkirk Rectory about once per quarter as advertised.
Enquiries for weddings and christenings (baptism), or other special services, are welcome.
