St. Laurence’s Church Wichenford

Wichenford Parish Church of St. Laurence (himself a 3rdcentury martyr) has been a centre of Christian Worship for over 800 years, since the building was built. This would mean there was a worshipping community in the area long before this. When it was opened as a place of worship the style of worship would have been different to how it is today although there would have been some things in common even with the most modern of our services. It would also have been a part of the Catholic Communion before the Reformation and services would have been said in Latin.
However the worship may have changed, the building is here as a testimony to the devotion of the people of the time and throughout the centuries, and of their faith in God and their discipleship to Christ. This continues today and there is of course a regular worshipping community meeting every week, of which everyone can be part.
It tells us in the Bible that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever, (Hebrew 13:8 ) He was the same for the people of the 12thcentury and is still relevant to the people of the 21stcentury.
A warm welcome awaits you at your Parish Church.
We have services that cater for differing traditions and ages. There are no age restrictions for any of the services of worship. Obviously some are more suited to younger people as are some to a more traditional congregation, but whatever our age God wants us all to be part of his Family, married or single, young or old. God loves us all.
