The church of All Saints was rebuilt in 1886-8 in place of the old building, which had fallen into disrepair. The foundation stone was laid on All Saints Day 1886 by Sir Henry Bromley of Stoke Hall. The new church was paid for solely by the rector at the time, the Revd Edward Handley. There are a few remnants of the previous church remaining, i.e. in the churchyard, an oval stone plaque and pinnacle; inside the church, a ceiling boss, a door lock & key, several monuments, royal arms and three of the six bells.
Services are held on three Sundays every month, and on the third Thursday morning. We have an active band of bell-ringers who practice every Thursday evening (new members are always welcome). The church is sometimes used for meetings, concerts and other events such as flower festivals and the annual "Ride & Stride". The church is very much part of the community and contributes to charitable causes. There is a primary school in the village which uses the church for its own services every year.
There is plenty of room for parking on the wide road outside the church, and easy wheelchair access from the road to the churchyard, church door, nave (including the font) and side aisle of the church. There are a maximum of three steps up to the organ chamber, chancel and vestry. The ringing chamber is reached via a short spiral staircase from the entrance porch.
The church is normally kept locked for insurance purposes outside of the publicized service times, but will be readily opened for visitors on request. We look forward to welcoming you!
