We have two churches in Withernsea within a mile of each other, and we are, to be blunt, broke. Therefore we tried an experiment in 2011 whereby St Nicholas's church (this church) closed for January, February and March, and St Matthew's church (called 'Owthorne' but in fact on the Hull Road here in Withernsea) closed for May, June and July. Needless to say, it was inconclusive! However, after much debate and with great sadness, we will be seeking to close this church. As a result, all Sunday services transfer to St Matthew's as from the end of April 2012, and no further bookings for weddings will be taken after August 2012. You will be assured a warm welcome at St Matthew's.
