Secretary’s review of the year 2010

 Review of the year 2010

In June we had the first joint PCC meeting in Hempnall Village Hall, Sue retired and Jackie is not the Team Leader of the Group.

Monica organised the “Flower Festival”, the theme “Memories” although the weather wasn’t kind it was a good weekend with lovely floral displays ending with Songs of Praise Sunday evening.

Once again the unpaid unit helped tidy the Churchyard, thanks to Jackie and Bill for their help organising, working and providing refreshments.

Liz and Michael did a sponsored walk around the Group and raised money for the Rev. Canon Pat Atkinson’s walk in India and the Big C Charity.

On July 4th Bishop Graham came to Hempnall Group service this was followed by a shared lunch. Baptism reunion at Hempnall invitations were sent out this was celebrated with a “Teddy Bear’s Picnic”.

The Parish letter was sent out to every household in the village it was felt that there was a good response to this.

It was agreed to erect a plaque below the exciting memorial to commemorate Frederick George Flatt who lost his life in the 1939-1945 war; thanks to Henry who spent hours researching this.

Everywhere we looked we saw ”The Sunflowers” in bloom.

The Christmas Fair was once again successful with Father Christmas with his sack full of gifts for the children.

The School held their Christmas Carol Concert in the Church this was well supported by families and friends.

On Christmas Eve the Church was full with families and friends at the Christingle Service, the joy on the children’s faces as they stood around the crib with their lighted Christingles.

A special thank you to both Liz and Michael for their love and support during the year.
