Old Saint Martin's is a Georgian church built in the 1770s, designed by the architect Anthony Keck. Internally it is rather like a smaller version of Saint Martin's-in-the-Fields in London. For over 100 years the church has maintained a Catholic tradition, and still does so today. The Sunday Sung Mass is celebrated at 9.45am, and on the first Sunday of the month we usually have Evensong and Benediction at 5.00pm.
We are a congregation which appreciates music and there is a Choral Mass (professional and semi-professional standard) usually on the second Sunday of the month.
On First Fridays we usually have a Mass of the Sacred Heart (in our Sacred Heart chapel); Saturdays in ordinary time are often 'Masses of Our Lady on Saturday'; there is also a monthly requiem. The Rosary is recited on the fourth Saturday of the month at 11.30am. Quiet days, and pilgrimages to Walsingham are regularly part of our programme.
