Immanuel Church has been meeting since the mid-70's on the Fairway Estate of Kings Norton. It grew out of prayerful vision and concern for all who were just moving into the then-new estate and these remain at the heart of all we are and do.

We are a friendly, welcoming church, which meets each Sunday at 10.30 a.m. at The Fairway Centre, a Social Services Day Centre for adults with disabilities and special needs, on the corner of Wychall Lane and The Fairway (see map).

There are now around 70 regular worshippers at Immanuel with approximately 50 attending each week. Our congregation is a mixture of ages and backgrounds and most, though not all, still live within walking distance of the church.

We use liturgy taken from Common Worship in an informal setting with some lay (non-ordained) leadership and interaction from the congregation. Music is led by a group of musicians who play a mix of modern worship songs and traditional hymns.

On most Sundays a member of the Parish Clergy Team is present to lead worship or to preach and to support the lay worship leaders. One Team member, Revd Jayne Crooks, is the overall pastoral and worship leader of Immanuel.

The day-to-day running of Immanuel Church is overseen by an elected District Church Council, responsible to the Parochial Church Council.

Oasis, our group for children of primary school age, meets during Sunday services. Here the children learn more about the Christian faith through stories, songs, games and activities.

One of Immanuel’s strengths is the pastoral care amongst the congregation. We befriend newcomers and support each other in the ups and downs of life, ensuring we contact and visit each other as needed during the week.

We run a Bible Study on Wednesday mornings. There are also groups meeting for shorter periods, such as during Lent. These help us to grow together in our Christian learning. We also have a monthly prayer meeting where we meet to pray for each other, for the church and for the local area.

Recognising that "being church" is about more than just meeting on Sundays, we arrange social events during the year, such as meals out, skittles nights, beetle drives, day trips and weekends away. All of these enable us to relax together and enjoy each other’s company, as well as providing opportunities to invite our friends and family to join with us.
