Special Services

St John the Baptist is a beautiful place to get married. We have our new bells to ring out your good news and a lovely situation for your wedding photographs. The church can seat approx. 115 people. For more information please contact the Vicar.

For in information on Baptism or Funeral Services please contact, The Vicar, The Rev’d. Mandy Williams .

We believe that there has been a church on this spot for more than 800 years, although what you now see is the result of extensive renovations carried out in 1862. Parts of the original building can be seen in the porch, and the bottom of the tower is of the same 13th century period. The Church has 3 fonts: one of dark stone with a fluted bowl is Norman and is probably from the original building, another is 13th century and a third, a fluted font, is probably 17th century. There is also a small medieval bowl for holding Holy Water known as a stoup.

Francis Stedman was the incumbent here for 47 years in the 17th Century and his son Fabian was baptised at St John the Baptist Yarkhill in 1640

The Church nave was restored by the Victorians. The Tower is older and contains a ring of bells dating from the 17th Century, read more about the bells on the bell page.
