St Andrew

Greetings and welcome!

There has been a church here since the 13th Century and the present building, completed in 1899 is the third church.

The Archbishops of York have their residence and offices in the parish and they have long had close association with their local church.

You will see there is a great deal going on. We value the opportunity to work with local children and young people through links with the local schools and our own activities, but everyone matters to us. We are here for you, too.

Safeguarding

The parish of Bishopthorpe: St Andrew is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of York’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
