DESCRIPTION:A reflective choral concert featuring works themed around Reme
 mbrance\, including Duruflé's Requiem (composed during WWII) and John Ire
 land's anthem Greater Love.\n\nWhilst in occupied France during the Second
  World War\, Maurice Duruflé composed his Requiem and was still working o
 n it in 1944 when the Vichy regime collapsed. He completed it in September
  1947. At the time he was exploring Gregorian chants\, and he uses numerou
 s themes from the Gregorian Mass for the Dead.\n\nPublished in 1912\, John
  Ireland’s anthem Greater Love uses words from various parts of the Bibl
 e and makes the firm assertion that 'love is strong as death\; greater lov
 e hath no man than this\, that a man lay down his life for his friends'.\n
 \nIn 2012\, and with the WWI centenary approaching\, Laurence Caldecote wr
 ote a new remembrance piece\, dedicated to those from the British colonies
  who had fought for the Allies in many parts of the world. He set In Fland
 ers Fields\, as it was written by a Canadian serving in Europe.\n\nThe pro
