DESCRIPTION:A concert of reflective choral works on the theme of Remembran
 ce.\n\nWhilst in occupied France\, Duruflé composed his Requiem during th
 e Second World War and was still working on it in 1944 when the Vichy regi
 me collapsed. He completed it in September 1947. At the time he was explor
 ing Gregorian chants and uses numerous themes from the Gregorian Mass for 
 the Dead.\n\nPublished in 1912 John Ireland’s anthem Greater Love uses w
 ords from various parts of the Bible and makes the firm assertion that ‘
 love is strong as death\; greater love hath no man than this\, that a man 
 lay down his life for his friends’.\n\nIn 2012\, and with the WWI centen
 ary approaching\, Laurence Caldecote wrote a new remembrance piece\, dedic
 ated to those from the British colonies who had fought for the Allies in m
 any parts of the world. He set In Flanders Fields\, as it was written by a
  Canadian serving in Europe.\n\nAlso works by Vaughan Williams and Walford
