A group of folk who like to accept a challenge have decided that they will try and walk to Jerusalem from Ford. They set off on Easter Sunday and are intending to reach Jerusalem to celebrate Pentecost on the 23rd May 2021.
The distance to be covered is 4,696 km or for those of us who prefer 2,918 mile. This translates into approximately 6,653,040 steps. Their steps will be combined and tracked and they are looking forward to learning about places that they pass through on the way.
The main aim however is to try and raise some funds for the parishes within the group who over the last year have not been able to hold services, weddings or funeral which all normally produce an income. The churches which are beautiful, historic buildings and often prominent within the communities that they are placed continue to require maintenance. This is essential if when restrictions lift they are to be there, available once again for people to use.
So if you would like to join the walkers or just sponsor please do get in touch with Jane Weston 01743 884785 or [email protected] thank you.
