Instead of Crib services and Nativity boxes this year every pupil in our local schools will receive an activity book and the Nativity Story taken from the children’s rhyming bible. Perhaps those of you who have nativity sets could place them in your window for others to see, or an angel to represent the good news of Christmas. If as many of us as possible did this it would mean that we are still sharing in the comfort and joy of Christmas.
Instead of carol services everyone can get involved in Carols on the Doorstep, on Wednesday 16th December 6pm. Tune into radio Shropshire 96FM for an hour they will supply the music, so you can sing in your own bubble with the whole street or village (sheet music and words will be downloadable if you want).
For those who are staying in, to stay safe, there is always the opportunity to call the free number 0800 804 8044 which is available 24 hours a day with hymns, prayers and reflections.
If regulations permit, the traditional services are planned too for those who would like to join together; Christmas Eve 8pm at Ford and 10.30 am at Alberbury on Christmas Morning.
Whatever we are all doing this Christmas I pray that you are still able to experience the comfort that the original Christmas intended us to have, all those years ago, and that we can journey beyond Epiphany with hope into 2021.
