Church of England Diocese of Hereford Presteigne with Discoed

Rector's message for the week of 12 July

11 Jul 2020, 2 p.m.

Dear Friends

This note comes with my very best wishes and the Readings and Collect to accompany the Sunday Morning Service for Use at Home.

The Welsh Government has announced (very quietly … I had to look very hard to find it…) that Churches in Wales may reopen for services from Monday next. This means that we will soon be able to hold services in Presteigne and Discoed – but we haven’t decided when yet! We will need to make a lot of plans and put a lot of procedures and safeguards in place first, but we’ll start work on these right away and we’ll let everyone know when we’re going to make our joyous return to Sunday Services.

It won’t be quite what we’re used to – there’ll be no singing for a start – but we’ll do our best to make it special.

It will be wonderful to see everyone and to worship God together again in our beautiful church buildings.

In the meantime, Presteigne, Discoed and Lingen churches are open for private prayer and there is the usual range of services and programmes available on BBC TV and Radio.

It is my intention to keep on sending out these Collect and Readings to anyone who wants them even after we resume services in church. I’m conscious that not everyone will feel comfortable about joining the congregations just yet, but that’s fine – and we’ll stay in fellowship with each other via the send-out service sheets and readings.

Keep safe and well

'Be joyful, keep the faith, and do the little things.'
