At the PCC meeting of 21st September, the decision was made to move towards
closing the church building. There are various reasons for this.
• For quite a number of years the church has struggled to make ends meet: to pay
our Parish Share and to maintain the Grade 1 listed building.
• The congregation numbers have been steadily declining which impacts on the
balance sheet. Innovative new types of services and creative adaptation of
traditional services have not translated into a sustained increase in the
• It has become too onerous for the members of the PCC and a few dedicated
volunteers to shoulder the responsibility for maintenance and the tasks of
running the Church, plus the vital fundraising. Covid 19 has precluded
fundraising and exacerbated an already serious situation.
If you do not want the church building to close, please come to the Annual
Meeting of Parishioners at 10.45am on Sunday, 4th October in All Saints, to
say what you would like from your church in the future. Without people willing
