Church of England Diocese of Leeds Ossett-cum-Gawthorpe

Heating Project - 2019

Details of our 2018/19 heating appeal "Make It Hot - Now!", including fundraising and information-sharing events,  will appear here, and be updated as things progress.

Great News:

This project is now under way; the installation of the heating system started on 17th June 2019 and will be completed on 25th July 2019.

Result: The building will be warm this winter!!

This means that we can now further develop this iconic building for community activities and events and will be able to use the building throughout the year.

It will also ensure the preservation of the heritage of this Grade II* listed building for future generations.

Thanks to all who have helped and supported this project:

All of this has only been possible due to the tremendous support, help and encouragement received from our local community and others. Following our “Make-it-Hot- Now” appeal generous donations and bequests have been received from:

     - Our Congregation

     - The Local Community and Business groups

Plus substantial grants from:

     - Garfield Weston Foundation

     - The Co-op Community Fund

     - Allchurches Trust

     - Wakefield Neighbourhood Community Fund

     - The National Lottery Community Fund, (Awards For All)

Project details:

The main contractor is Christopher Dunphy Ecclesiastical Ltd, who are leading church heating specialists; they will install a gas fired boiler “wet” system, this will have minimal aesthetic impact on the building with radiators around the perimeter and finned tubes in the Victorian ducts,. A new mains gas supply is being provided by Northern Gas Networks; other building and electrical works will be carried out by local contractors. The project has been developed in consultation with the Diocese and has their full backing and support.
