We are pleased to announce the arrival of our new Vicar, the Revd Catherine Carlyon on Thursday 26th November 2020. Due to the Covid restrictions, the licensing was conducted online by the Bishop of Taunton and live streamed to parishioners, family and friends.
Catherine has recently been serving in the Diocese of London as the Chaplain among the Deaf and Deaf-blind community since 2014. Before that she was priest in charge of the Parish of Sandford with Upton Hellions (Crediton Benefice) in the Diocese of Exeter after serving her curacy in the Parish of Launceston (Diocese of Truro).
Catherine says she is looking forward to working with members of St. Francis Church, especially as we emerge from a difficult year of restrictions and isolation due to Covid 19. The Good News of Jesus Christ is more relevant now than ever as we realise how fragile life is and that a loving community is how we can reflect God's love to those around us.
Before Catherine was ordained she worked as a registered nurse, most recently as a community nurse in the Truro area of Cornwall. She lives with her dog, Piran, a border collie.
