Heritage Open Days in Goathurst – 11th and 12th September, 2 – 5 p.m.

Goathurst’s own unique Village Heritage Trail will once again feature in the National Heritage Open Days’ Festival which runs from Friday 9thtoSunday 18th September.

Following the success of our inaugural Village Heritage Trail in 2019, Halswell House and Park, the Landmark Trust and St Edward’s church have again joined forces to welcome visitors to explore the unique history and heritage which links them so closely together. Halswell House and grounds, and Mill Wood with the lakes and Temple of Harmony will be open with some guided tours available; guides will also be on hand at the church to provide an insight into the history of its significant collection of tombs and monuments and their links to the families of Halswell House. This year, Robin Hood Hut (Landmark Trust) will also be open. There will be a trail map available showing a suggested route.

Refreshments will again be available at the church. While there please investigate the church itself. The download is a plan of notable features and a guidebook will (DV) be available.

It’s an ideal opportunity for the many newcomers to the village to delve into the history surrounding these prominent places within the community
