The Reverend Paul Irving writes:
Following my appointment as Rector of Staplegrove with Norton Fitzwarren, I am really thrilled about taking up the post in early 2021.
Originally from Gloucestershire, I worked for eleven years as a secondary school teacher in the city of Gloucester before theological education at Trinity College, Bristol. I served my curacy until 2014 at St Michael’s Church, Galmington, before moving to my current post as Team Vicar in the parish of Redditch Holy Trinity where I have been for nearly seven years.
I have a heart for outward-facing ministry and growth. I am excited about the next stage in my ministry and about seeing where God will lead us all at St John’s and All Saints. Having already lived in Taunton, we will be delighted to be back in such a welcoming and active town – one which is changing fast.
The last year has been challenging for us all in so many different ways but the recent news of vaccines gives us all genuine hope for the future, and I pray that we will all be able to emerge together through the Covid-19 pandemic into a new and exciting chapter of life in Church and the wider community.<div><img src="blob:https://www.achurchnearyou.com/2299abe5-12da-45ec-a54b-d41df90170a0">I am married to Ami, an early years teaching assistant, and we have two children. Harriet has recently become a teenager and enjoys being creative. Joseph will be eleven by the time we arrive in Taunton and loves computer games and sport. We have a miniature dachshund, Jemima, and a big cat called Jerry.</div>
In my spare time, I am mainly interested in sports involving a round ball. My competitive days are now behind me, except when I play Joseph at snooker. You will also see me running around the local area in an ongoing battle to defy time and retain fitness. Good coffee, real ale and quality food are also high on my agenda.<div><img src="blob:https://www.achurchnearyou.com/e8cc5b79-13f6-49b6-a9c4-93d6194a7c1d">We will be moving to Staplegrove in early February. As I write, the date of my licensing has yet to be agreed but is anticipated around the end of February or early March. Please pray for us as we seek to finish well in Redditch and prepare to begin a new life with you all in Taunton. I look forward to meeting you.</div>
