So many of the Strollers turned out to support the 'Ride and Stride' event for the Somerset Churches Trust it was clearly time to restart the Group, and our first walk was a fairly local one, a rather convoluted route through Longrun Meadow ending up at The Weir coffee shop in French Weir for refreshments and returning to the Church car park along a different route, about 4 miles in all. There was a good turnout, 18 people in all. The covid-safe rules for organised walking groups at the time allowed up to 30 people as long as we adhered to all the rules. A system for booking a place in advance was set up, and we walked, keeping socially distanced, and each group of six had a leader.
It was a great pleasure to be out walking again with good friends and neighbours which makes it even harder to have to cancel the next walk, planned for 17 November, now that the rules have changed. Let’s hope that our walk planned for Thursday 17 December, again meeting in the Church car park at 1:30pm, can go ahead, but we might have to wait until the yew year before the rules are relaxed enough for walking groups to meet once again.
Those of you who we have an email address or phone number for will be contacted near the date with walk details. Whatever happens we will still need to have a booking system so if you would like to join us use one of the contact methods below. All are welcome!
