We hope you all have a good, though probably different to times past, Christmas and New Year.

We are continuing to operate our stall “on-line” at [email protected] and by telephone on 01823 279686. If you live locally and would like any stock items or would like to place an order please give us a call.

Up to December the stall had raised £544.17 from the sale of goods; the Fairtrade Fortnight coffee morning in February and donations. This money has been sent to the Traidcraft Exchange which supports the producers and their communities. The following is one example of their work:-

“For two years Traidcraft Exchange has supported people to break the chains of modern day slavery in India and Bangladesh. Last year, Morzina had paid off her debt and was making a decent living selling fish. But with markets closed during lockdowns, and no land to mortgage or assets to sell, she is facing a return to debt bondage. Right now, families are falling back into slavery for borrowing sums as low as £9.06 - just enough to feed their families. Morzina has no choice who to borrow from – the only option is the local land owner and loan shark. There’s no negotiating terms, or written agreements. She’s selling her future and will work without payment for at least a year. But her family need to eat now. Because of the coronavirus, thousands are falling back into unpaid slave labour – forced to sell their freedom in exchange for survival.”

With many thanks for supporting your Traidcraft stall.
