Keep fit with our Health and Wellbeing Chaplain

Hello everyone

For those of you that do not know me I am your Health and Wellbeing Chaplain and I work for St Johns Church and the Team of village churches around Wellington. I was commissioned in July 2019 and in addition to this volunteer role I worked full time for Everyone Active as an Exercise Referral Specialist and the area coordinator for the Taunton Dene partnership.

Several of you already know either from church, fitness events or the summer walk in Kittisford, some of you know me from my work with Everyone Active either at Wellington or Wellsprings, attending my groups or classes.

My work brings me into contact with a diverse range of people dealing with a wide range of conditions ranging from hips and knees to more specialised work with Parkinson’s and Cardiac Rehabilitation. I consider myself incredibly lucky to do the work that I do and to work with all the people that are referred to me.

However, we are currently living in challenging times, with a disruption to lifestyles and freedom that many of us would never have seen before in this country. It is one thing to choose to be in isolation but completely different when it is imposed upon us. Over the last three weeks talking with members of my groups and discussing subjects such as anxiety, fear, and loneliness.

Exercise plays a big part in helping with the stress that is caused by social distancing and imposed quarantine – so I am putting together some exercise sessions online for you all to do. These will vary from seated Pilates, light cardio to basic mobility exercises. Our intention is to eventually be able to offer some form of exercise for as many different people as we can.
